A fire broke out on the evening of May 19, 2025, at the Lejweleputswa District SCM Stores Department within the Kopano District Health Office in Welkom, Free State.

It completely destroyed critical dental stocks and equipment vital for oral healthcare services across the district.

No injuries were reported, and the Free State Department of Health, through spokesperson Mondli Mvambi, is investigating the cause.
